The Aboriginal Heritage Register is a database of Aboriginal heritage sites and places of significance to the Aboriginal people of Tasmania.
Currently there are over 13,000 known heritage sites and places of significance listed on the register.
A New Aboriginal Heritage Register
Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania have delivered a new Aboriginal Heritage Register - a modern, fit-for-purpose online register that replaces the existing form-based process and integrates with the Aboriginal Heritage Property Search website.
This new register provides a more robust and efficient system for Tasmanian Aboriginal heritage information access and management.
The new Aboriginal Heritage Register is now available online.
Changes
Email submissions: Email submissions are no longer accepted. All new submissions to Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania are now entered using the Aboriginal Heritage Register.
Forms: Word forms have been replaced with online tools in the new register. In most cases, this is a digital version of the old form, asking for the same information.
Site Recordings: The Submit a Site Recording tool allows applicants to include more detail compared to the old Site Recording Form.
Aboriginal Heritage Property Search Website: The Aboriginal Heritage Property Search website has been moved into the new Aboriginal Heritage Register. You need to provide an email address for a Property Search, so that the results can be sent to you.
Ongoing Submissions
Any email submissions that were received by Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania prior to 9:00 AM Monday 6 July 2026 will still be processed using the previous methods.
