Recipients for the third round of the High Priority Infrastructure Grants have been announced. As a result more than $10 million will be delivered to 30 infrastructure projects supporting the waste and resource recovery sector in Tasmania.
The projects were chosen after a strong response from councils, businesses and community groups. Eight projects are in the South, 10 in the North and 12 in the North-West.
Together, these projects will keep more than 64,000 tonnes of waste out of landfill each year. Instead, the waste will be diverted for reuse and recycling.
The program will also leverage at least $15.1 million in co-investment (cash and in-kind) from project proponents. This will help local businesses grow and create jobs.
The grants will support better recycling of materials such as plastics, building waste and tyres, as well as more recovery of food and garden waste, helping build a stronger circular economy in Tasmania.
