The Charter for Working on Private Farmland has been established since 2019.
The Charter sets out the obligations of utility companies, relevant State Government Departments and others when working on private farmland. Its objectives are to ensure that issues of shared concern such as biosecurity and safety risks are considered and that farmers’ property rights are treated with respect.
The parties to the Charter have work collaboratively to ensure that it remains contemporary up to 2030.
Parties to the Charter are TasFarmers, Aurora Energy, TasNetworks, TasWater, Tasmanian Irrigation and the Tasmanian Government.
The Charter is administered by NRE Tas on behalf of the parties.
