On 8 June 2022, the Government released the Review of the Racing Regulation Act 2004: Securing the Integrity of the Tasmanian Racing Industry (the Monteith Review) by independent racing expert Mr Dale Monteith.
On 30 November 2022, the Government confirmed its support for the Monteith Review recommendations and released its detailed response to each of the recommendations which is available here:

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania are progressing the implementation of the important reforms and invites written submissions on the draft Racing Regulation Integrity Bill. Guidance and information on how to have your say is available below:
Public Submissions on draft Racing Regulation and Integrity Bill
The key provisions in the draft Bill include:
- Creation of a Tasmanian Racing Integrity Commissioner (TasRIC) with powers to set integrity and animal welfare standards;
- Tasracing to become operationally responsible for all three codes of racing, including pre-race day and race day management, stewards, and daily animal welfare;
- Providing an advisory role for the RSPCA in animal welfare matters and retaining the power for independent investigation of animal welfare matters;
- The TasRIC to provide an annual report to the Minister for Racing on the performance of their functions and the exercise of their powers.
