Applications for the 2025 Tasmanian AgriFutures Rural Women’s Awards are closing soon.
The awards are open to all women involved in rural and regional industries, businesses, and communities. Each state and territory winner will receive a $15,000 Westpac grant to support a project, business or program that benefits rural areas.
The 2023 winner, Melissa Duniam won for her project, Leading Rein, which uses animals to help people with professional development.
As part of the award, Melissa received $15,000, which she used to hire a business strategist. This helped her improve her project’s online presence, marketing, and promote events. She also used the funds to gain an emotional fitness accreditation.
Since winning the award, Melissa’s successes have continued, through leading workshops as well as retreats for women from all over Tasmania. More than 20 women took part in events that helped them with both personal and professional growth. Her workshops became so popular that they now have a waitlist and excellent feedback.
Melissa said that winning the award, along with the support from other women involved, helped her grow personally and professionally.
“I wish I could reapply for the RWA as the version of me who I am today as I feel they are two completely different people! I truly want to thank AgriFutures for this experience,” she said.
If you’ve got a project that can help rural Tasmania, don’t miss this opportunity. Applications for the 2025 Tasmanian AgriFutures Rural Women’s Awards and Acceleration Grant close 12 pm on Wednesday 9 October 2024.
