Electronic conveyancing is now available in Tasmania, signifying an important development in the history of the Land Titles Office.
In July 2024 Property Exchange Australia Ltd (PEXA) was approved to provide and operate an Electronic Lodgement Network (ELN) in Tasmania.
From 12 August 2024, mortgages and discharges of mortgage can be lodged with the Land Titles Office using the National Electronic Conveyancing system.
Using the National Electronic Conveyancing system allows parties to electronically prepare and lodge land dealings and exchange funds. This removes the need for paper documents and paper cheques.
National Electronic Conveyancing is efficient, accurate and secure. Information is drawn directly from the Land Titles Register which is expected to reduce errors and provide increased levels of security and rigour in the streamlined conveyancing process.
Land dealings supporting the sale and purchase of property are expected to become available for electronic conveyancing in Tasmania in February 2025.
The availability of electronic conveyancing in Tasmania aligns with the regulatory framework for National Electronic Conveyancing which has been developed and maintained by all Australian jurisdictions through their participation in the Australian Registrars’ National Electronic Conveyancing Council.
