Grants available for Tasmanian heritage properties

Round 3 of the Built Heritage Grants Scheme is now open until 2pm on Friday 19 December. The Scheme aims to ensure Tasmania’s built heritage places are valued, protected and conserved for the benefit of our state and the community. This round comprises two programs and will deliver up to $1.3 million in funding. The Small Grants Program includes grants of up to $20,000 to support state registered heritage owners to undertake small heritage conservation and restoration works. The Large Grants Program provides grants of between $20,000 and $200,000 to support heritage property owners, skills development organisations and the community to activate heritage places and engage community support for built heritage.

This round follows a successful round 2, which provided $1.3 million to support over 40 projects statewide. Some of the round 2 projects include the Hop Kiln Wall restoration in New Norfolk, restoration of Woodbury Barracks in the Southern Midlands, the Parkham Anglican Church and Hall restoration project in the Meander Valley and the St John’s Church Tower Water ingress project in Launceston. If you own a heritage property, this is your opportunity to apply for funding to undertake small, but significant, heritage conservation and restoration activities. Applicants are strongly encouraged to read the Guidelines in full before applying. To apply, and for more details on the Grants, visit the Heritage Tasmania website.
