Happy holidays from NRE Tas

​​​On behalf of everyone at the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania we would like to wish you a happy and safe festive season.

This is also a reminder that our offices will be closed from Thursday 25 December, reopening on Friday 2 January 2026.

Some of our staff will remain busy behind the scenes. You might encounter:

• staff at our parks which will be open to explore. You can find a list of opening hours for PWS visitor centres​ on the Tasm​​ania Parks and Wildlife Services website. Safety messages will also be kept up-to-date.

• our Biosecurity Tasmania staff, including our detector dog fleet. If you are travelling in and out of Tasmania you may encounter our teams. Check what you can and can’t bring into Tasmania before you travel so you can help keep Tasmania safe from unwanted pests and diseases.

• the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. The Gardens are open every day of the year including Christmas. Opening hours for the Gardens' shop and pop-up café are available on the Gardens' website.
