New Discover Heritage site makes exploring our historic heritage easy

​​​​​A new search platform has been launched, which allows easy exploration of heritage listed places on the Tasmanian Heritage Register.

Discover Heritage​’, makes it simple to search through a list of nearly 5,000 heritage-listed places statewide.

Our built heritage is rich in Tasmania and is a major drawcard for visitors, it supports the retention of valuable building and conservation skills in the state and adds significant value to land and property values as well as the Tasmanian brand.  

There area multiple ways to search heritage listed sites, including:

  • Place
  • Location
  • Architectural style
  • Chronological period
  • Designer; or
  • Notable people.

'Discover Heritage' can be accessed on desktop or also on your smart phone, making it easy to learn more about places while out walking or touring.

If you own a heritage listed place, and want to understand and conserve its heritage values, you can use the portal to learn more about its historic cultural heritage significance. You can do this by searching your address or the Tasmanian Heritage Register number of your place to get started.​
