Tasmanians can stay up to date on where bird flu is being detected across the state with the launch of a new online dashboard and interactive map.
The dashboard brings the latest information together in one place, showing the number of tests, number of positive events and number of reports.
It also includes an interactive map so users can see bird flu detections at a glance. People can zoom in on their area of the state to view affected locations and access updates as they become available.
Importantly, the interactive map does not show individual properties to protect privacy, but it does indicate the location where the detection occurred.
The dashboard has been developed to make important information easier to access and understand, supporting community members, poultry owners, farmers, industry and business operators to stay informed.
The map is updated in real time and shows where bird flu has been detected over the past 14 days.
This information helps people understand what’s happening in their local area and make decisions about what measures they may need to take to protect their pet birds.
The dashboard will be updated regularly as new information becomes available and as surveillance and response activities continue.
Tasmanians are asked to continue reporting bird flu, even if it has been detected in their area.
Reporting remains an important part of our surveillance to monitor how the disease is moving across Tasmania and which species are affected.
Not every animal reported will need to be collected and tested but these reports are important and help inform how we evolve our response efforts.
If you see sick or dead birds or other wildlife:
AVOID contact.
RECORD what you see - the type of animal, the number of animals, the location and take photos or video.
REPORT by calling the Emergency Animal Disease hotline as soon as possible on 1800 675 888 or through the online reporting form.
