Public Consultation on Draft Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy

On 22 November 2022, the Draft Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2022-2025 was released for public consultation.

In developing the Draft Strategy, the inaugural Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board adopted the Vision of Tasmania – A place where nothing is wasted. The Strategy identifies objectives to divert waste from disposal at landfill facilities, maximise resource recovery, and improve waste management practices in Tasmania. It recognises the work in this space already underway by individuals, communities, businesses and governments across Tasmania, and aims to improve coordination and planning to help position Tasmania to take advantage of the global shift towards circular and sustainable economic systems.

NRE Tas works closely with the Board to deliver a range of waste and resource recovery initiatives, and has assisted in the development of the draft Strategy.

Feedback on the Draft Strategy is welcomed from all stakeholders and the wider Tasmanian community.

Feedback on the Draft Strategy closes on 31 January 2023.
