Safe Farming Tasmania has a new series of free Safe Farming Tasmania sessions focused on the safe recovery of bogged machinery to support farmers and rural workers to stay safe on the land.
Retrieving bogged farm machinery can quickly become dangerous if the right approach and equipment are not used. Safe Farming Tasmania, in partnership with Link Resources, will deliver practical demonstration and information sessions across Tasmania to raise awareness of the hazards and risks associated with machinery recovery.
The sessions will provide farmers and rural workers with practical advice on safely recovering farm machinery and vehicles bogged in paddocks, dams or other challenging conditions. Participants will learn about work health and safety requirements, planning a recovery approach, conducting risk assessments, and selecting and using appropriate recovery equipment and attachments.
The program has been designed in consultation with industry, primary producers and safety specialists to ensure it reflects the real challenges faced on Tasmanian farms, to improve awareness of safe recovery techniques and ultimately help prevent injuries on farms.
Equipment suppliers will also attend the sessions to answer questions about recovery tools and gear. Representatives from organisations including Rural Alive and Well, Primary Employers Tasmania, Rural Business Tasmania and Red Hot Tips will be present at selected events to provide additional information and support.
