The Tasmanian Agri-Food Scorecard 2022-23 measures and reports on the state’s agricultural sector.
The latest scorecard shows that 2022-23 was another year of growth for Tasmanian agriculture, with the gross value of agricultural production growing by 5 per cent to $2.46 billion in 2022-23, compared to $2.34 billion in 2021-22.
Favourable seasonal conditions during spring and cool temperatures leading into the summer enabled ample feed which were crucial to the continued strong performance of pasture-based industries. This accounted for 52 per cent of the farm-gate value
Dairy was again the highest value agricultural category, increasing by 35 per cent to $684 million.
Packed and processed value of food was also up by 7 per cent on the previous year to $6.02 billion.
The state’s overall agri-food value, which also includes the $1.56 billion seafood industry grew by 10 per cent to $4.02 billion. The scorecard showed value of seafood was up by 19 per cent to $1.56 billion, with salmonids leading with a value food production of $1.37 billion.
