Seeking volunteer expressions of interest for the Orange-bellied Parrot Monitoring Program.

​​At NRE Tas we are lucky to work alongside thousands of hardworking and skilled volunteers who partner with us every day.

Volunteers play a vital role to help us achieve positive environmental conservation and sustainability outcomes to preserve the heritage and biodiversity of Tasmania.

The Orange-bellied Parrot Monitoring Program has been an extremely valued and highly regarded volunteer supported initiative since its initiation in 1990.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for volunteers to work with us at the Orange-bellied Parrot Tasmanian Program between September 2023 and April 2024.

Two volunteers will spend two or four consecutive weeks at Melaleuca. The required tasks generally take around 6 hours per day.

Volunteer tasks include:

  • Observing and recording OBPs and other birds
  • Providing supplementary feed
  • Cleaning feed tables
  • Managing remote cameras​
