Eleven resource recovery facilities will soon be receiving a total of $290,000 in funding through the Waste Data Readiness Grant Program.
The Grant Program assists facility operators with the cost of modifying business systems and infrastructure to be able to comply with legislative requirements under the Waste and Resource Recovery Act 2022.
Funds will be put towards various facility upgrades, including tollbooth, weighing and IT infrastructure, software upgrades, and building works. This will improve the ability to classify material and to be able to report on the amount of each material type.
Coming into effect from 1 July next year, operators of facilities who receive or are likely to receive more than 1,000 tonnes and less than 10,000 tonnes of waste per year, will be required to record and report the movement of waste entering and leaving the facility.
The successful applicants, who will receive grants up to $30,000 under round two of the program are:
