The Tasmanian Government has released the
Tasmanian Salmon Industry Plan, which came into effect on 1 May 2023. The Plan is a long-term plan providing direction and certainty for the future of the Tasmanian salmon industry.
It establishes a strategic framework to guide the long-term priorities for the Tasmanian salmon industry and is designed to be responsive to the significant opportunities and potential challenges for the Tasmanian salmon industry in an ever-evolving global seafood market.
Development of the Plan has included ten community briefing sessions across the state, independently delivered engagement through the Blue Economy Cooperative Research Centre, and public submissions across two consultation periods.
Implementation of the Plan will be delivered by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania in collaboration with the independent Environment Protection Authority, associated state government departments and research organisations.
