Tasmania’s first legislated waste strategy has officially been released at the Tasmanian Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association Forum during National Recycling Week 2023.
The Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2023-2026 will help to set Tasmania on a sustainable pathway to be a place where nothing is wasted.
The Strategy, released by the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board together with the Tasmanian Government, will support the development and adoption of new business models, programs and partnerships.
Within the Strategy, there are four pillars or focus areas, these include:
The Strategy will help reduce waste and grow Tasmania’s circular economy.
The funds from the statewide waste levy will be allocated by the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board to implement the waste strategy.
