Waste Tyre Grant Program set to open
Page Content
Tasmania could soon be paving its roads with old tyres.
That is the hope for a new grant program just launched by the Tasmanian Government.
The Roads to Resource Recovery: Waste Tyre Reprocessing Grant Program will provide funding of up to $3 million for the development of a processing plant for end-of-life tyres.
There are many uses for waste tyres, like making rubber crumb that can be used in road surfacing and Tyre Derived Fuel to provide energy for industrial processes.
To help establish a market for such products, the Government is looking to establish a rubber crumbing plant in partnership with industry, although it will consider other sustainable and long-term solutions for our waste tyre problem.
