Public submissions were invited to provide feedback on proposed deer management options in relation to permits and licences. The eight-week public consultation period closed on 9 January 2026.
The purpose of the consultation was to:
Fulfill the requirements of the Tasmanian Wild Fallow Deer Management Plan 2022-2027 (the Deer Plan) to annually review the effectiveness of policies and management tools outlined in the Deer Plan
Address government election commitments to:
- Finalise work required to streamline Zone 1 permits under the Deer Management Plan.
- Make Zone 3 a complete eradication zone.
The Consultation Summary Report provides a summary of the responses received against each proposed measure. It also highlights commonly raised matters outside what was proposed.
