Storms, Bushfires and Floods

Extreme weather events such as bushfires, floods and storms can severely impact agricultural productivity, infrastructure and rural communities. Effective management involves:

Preparedness: Develop emergency plans, maintain firebreaks, secure infrastructure, and monitor weather alerts.

Response: Act quickly to protect livestock, crops, and equipment. Follow local emergency services' guidance.

Recovery: Assess damage, restore soil health, repair infrastructure, and seek financial or government support where available.

The below resources may assist you in developing your plans and response for natural disasters.

Storm and Severe Weather

Storms and severe weather can cause widespread damage to crops, infrastructure, and farm operations. Farmers are advised to monitor weather alerts, secure property and equipment, and have contingency plans in place to minimise disruption and support recovery.

Bushfire

Bushfires pose a significant threat to agricultural land, infrastructure, and livestock. Farmers are encouraged to develop fire preparedness plans, maintain firebreaks, and stay informed through official emergency services to reduce risk and support rapid recovery.
