Cameron of Tasmania Pty Ltd applied for an amendment to the Tasman Peninsula and Norfolk Bay Marine Farming Development Plan September 2018.
The amendment:
- Increases the area of Zone 9A (Eaglehawk Bay) from 49.59 to 85.66 hectares to allow for an increase in the lease area available to farm shellfish.
- Increases the maximum leasable area within Zone 9A from 32.50 to 67.89 hectares to accommodate the increased lease area.
Public exhibition documents
The draft amendment and accompanying Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) with all appendices were exhibited for public comment for two months closing 12 March 2024.
Planning process and supporting documents
After the closing of the public exhibition period, the Planning Authority prepared a report for consideration by the Marine Farming Planning Review Panel (the Panel). The Panel undertook detailed consideration of the draft Plan and conducted a public hearing, before making a recommendation to the Minister in relation to the draft Plan.
The Plan was approved on 5 December 2024.
