An independent study of the Tasmanian salmon industry is currently underway.
The study is to consider the effectiveness of regulation and management in achieving sustainable outcomes for Tasmania's natural and physical resources, consistent with Tasmania's Resource Management and Planning System. The study will help inform future policy decisions that seek to balance a sustainable industry with positive outcomes for the Tasmanian environment and community.
On 27 October 2025, the final terms of reference for the salmon industry study were released.
