The National Sheep Health Declaration (NSHD) is a biosecurity tool that can be used to assess the biosecurity risk of introducing new stock. The declaration covers virulent footrot, lice, ovine brucellosis, and ovine Johne’s Disease. Completion of the declaration assists prospective buyers make informed decisions about the health status and management history of a flock before purchase. The NSHD is mandatory for all sheep being moved into Tasmania and is voluntary but recommended for sheep movements within the state.
