The Tasmanian Animal Welfare Guidelines for pigs are the recommended practices and guidelines contained in the
Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals - Pigs, Third edition, PISC Report 92.
This document contains nationally agreed standards and guidelines for the care and management of pigs. It covers the provision of food and water, accommodation, husbandry and emergency euthanasia.
The standards in the Model Code of Practice, except for Standards 4.1.5 relating to sow stalls, are legally enforceable in Tasmania. Note that in Tasmania the use of sow stalls is prohibited except in limited circumstances.
