The Animal Welfare Act 1993
makes it compulsory for rodeos in Tasmania to be run under a prescribed code of practice. Currently, the prescribed code is the nationally developed 'Standards for the Care and Treatment of Rodeo Livestock'. This document can be accessed at the following link: Standards for the Care and Treatment of Rodeo Livestock (137Kb)
It is important to note that the Animal Welfare Act also states that a veterinary surgeon must be present at all Tasmanian rodeos.
