​​​​​​​​Notifiable Pests and Diseases​

Certain pests and diseases are classed as 'declared pests and diseases' or 'prohibited matter' under the Biosecurity Act 2019. Pests/diseases that fall under either of these categories must be reported to Biosecurity Tasmania as soon as possible after detection. This requirement to report is also a condition of compulsory beekeeper registration under Part B, Section 2 of the Australian Honey Bee Industry Biosecurity Code of Practice.​

How to Report​​​​

Notifiable pests and diseases can be reported to Biosecurity Tasmania by:

  • Email: honeybee.biosecurity@nre.tas.gov.au, or

  • Phone: 6165 3777, or

  • Adding a 'hive inspection' or 'mite check' diary entry i​n BeeTAS (further instructions on how to add a diary entry can be found on page 10 of the BeeTAS User Guide), or

  • Contacting the Exotic Plant Pest Hotline on 1800 084 881.

​​Non-Notifiable Pests​ and Diseases

The pests listed below are not notifiable. If you find these in your apiary, you do not need to report their presence to Biosecurity Tasmania.
