Public Consultation - Review of Animal Welfare (Transport of Livestock) Regulations

Tasmania currently has Animal Welfare Regulations in place for the transport of livestock.

A recent review by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas) has highlighted that the regulations are largely sufficient for most species, but two categories need review; horses and bobby calves (calves under 30 days of age).

The proposed changes update the horse transport provisions and introduce new transport requirements for bobby calves.

Proposed changes will affect Regulations made under the Animal Welfare Act 1993.
