Import Requirement Variation (IRV) Quarterly Summary
Page Content
July 2022 - September 2022
The Plant Biosecurity Manual – Tasmania, (PBMTas) outlines specific Tasmanian import requirements for given plants, plant products or other prescribed matter authorised by the Plant Quarantine Act 1997.
Import Requirement Variations (IRVs) may be provided to importers who wish to seek variations to existing Import Requirements. Variations are usually requested for specific plants, plant products, prescribed matter or unique import pathways which may not be specifically addressed within the Plant Biosecurity Manual Tasmania.
Variations are provided in the form of Conditional Exemptions where acceptable alternative approaches have been proposed and are assessed as appropriate in terms of managing the biosecurity risk. The Conditional Exemptions contain strict import conditions which must be met by the importer.
The following table provides a summary of the variations provided during the previous quarter, if you wish to view the individual Condition Exemption documents please send a request to Biosecurity.planthealth@nre.tas.gov.au
Please note - currently only applications for variation renewals are being considered. Applications for new Import Requirement variations are not being accepted except under exceptional circumstances.
