The Biosecurity (Livestock Traceability) Regulations 2024 provide requirements for advertising the sale, gifting or swapping of identifiable livestock (sheep, goats, cattle and pigs). Advertisements include those that are printed, as well as websites and social media sites.
To sell identifiable livestock, you need:
a Property Identification Code (PIC)
to ensure that they are correctly identified
to complete a vendor declaration/movement document.
The advertisement must include the:
PIC of the premises where they are being kept
name, postal or email address and telephone number of the owner or those of the livestock agent.
Penalties apply if these details aren’t stated in the advertisement.
