Exporting Potatoes to Other States and Territories

Tasmania is no longer in response phase to potato mop-top virus (Pomovirus solani) (PMTV).

There are no food safety or human health risks associated with the virus, and all Tasmanian potatoes are safe to consume.

To date, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia have implemented restrictions on the movement of unprocessed Tasmanian potatoes and other risk items such as equipment used in potato production.

These conditions vary in each State, it is critical for exporters to check specific requirements with the destination state before sending consignments.

Processing, seed and fresh potatoes

Exports of Tasmanian potatoes to some states are restricted. Please check each states requirements before sending any product.

Pre-processed potatoes

There are currently no restrictions on potatoes that have already been processed (such as frozen French fries).
