Tasmania has built a global reputation for producing safe, high-quality food and produce. This reputation is supported by our strong biosecurity measures. As a result, we are relatively pest and disease-free status.
The Tasmanian Primary Produce Traceability Strategy has been developed to ensure the continued protection of the state’s producers and their products:
Tasmanian Primary Produce Traceability Strategy 2023-2028 (PDF 5Mb)
The Strategy comes after extensive public consultation and the consideration of national developments.
Implementation of the new Strategy will help:
improve biosecurity management for more of Tasmania's primary produce
maintain and increase market access both domestically and internationally
ensuring standardisation of traceability data lets supply chain information be interrogated to improve consumer assurance
provide protection from counterfeiting and brand protection
reduce food waste
