Tasmanian Primary Produce Traceability Strategy

Tasmania has built a global reputation for producing safe, high-quality food and produce. This reputation is supported by our strong biosecurity measures. As a result, we are relatively pest and disease-free status.

The Tasmanian Primary Produce Traceability Strategy has been developed to ensure the continued protection of the state’s producers and their products:

The Strategy comes after extensive public consultation and the consideration of national developments.

Implementation of the new Strategy will help:

  • improve biosecurity management for more of Tasmania's primary produce

  • maintain and increase market access both domestically and internationally

  • ensuring standardisation of traceability data lets supply chain information be interrogated to improve consumer assurance

  • provide protection from counterfeiting and brand protection

  • reduce food waste
