Development of Guidance Document (Roadmap)
In March 2025, the Premier received a petition requesting support for small scale Tasmanian meat processors. In response to the petition, the Government committed to developing a ‘roadmap for small-scale meat processors outlining the approval and permits they need to get started and maintain business’.
The Government initially developed the Guidance Document (Roadmap) through targeted consultation with an industry Working Group in 2025-2026. Tasmanians were then invited to have their say on the Guidance Document (Roadmap) through public consultation in March 2026.

The feedback received has informed a series of issues and recommendations identified through the consultation process. These issues and recommendations will be considered by the relevant Government agencies as part of ongoing policy and regulatory discussions.
