Prior consultation

NRE Tas routinely works alongside a diverse range of stakeholders in our everyday activities - across government, industry, community groups and within our own organisation. These regular conversations are a core part of how we operate, and the knowledge gained through these conversations and long‑standing relationships has been instrumental in shaping the draft Strategy. The insights, experiences, and perspectives shared with us over time have provided depth and real‑world grounding that cannot be achieved through formal consultation alone.

Alongside this ongoing engagement, we also undertook a structured consultation process. The release of the Discussion Paper in November 2023 invited targeted input from stakeholders, ensuring their views were captured in a clear and deliberate way. Together, these formal submissions and the many day‑to‑day interactions we have with stakeholders have informed and strengthened the development of the draft Strategy. The draft Strategy reflects the generous input of Tasmanians, resulting in a practical and inclusive document grounded in a shared commitment to protecting Tasmania’s biodiversity.

Feedback has been analysed and summarised in the ‘What we heard’ report. This summary presents key themes, trends and priorities identified by stakeholders.

The Discussion Paper and 'What we heard' report can be accessed via the links below.
