Tasmanian Agricultural Precinct

The Tasmanian Government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU)​ with the University of Tasmania to create the new Tasmanian Agricultural Precinct based at Newnham alongside the University of Tasmania’s Institute of Agriculture. 

Record Number of OBPs Begin Migration North​OBP logo

​​Almost 200 Orange-bellied Parrots​ have begun migrating north after breeding season at Melaleuca in the state’s south-west, the highest number since monitoring began in the early 1990s.​​

Rural ​​Water Use Strategy

The Tasmanian Government has developed the Rural Water Use Strategy​ to support the wise use of water and ensure that our freshwater resources are available to support the wide range of water uses and environments that depend on them as well as new opportunities for innovation and growth.

Preliminary results of annual DPIPWE wild duck monitoring show duck numbers ​at levels within the range seen in recent years.

The Tasmanian Government is conducting a review into Tasmanian Thoroughbred Racetracks​ to consider the adequacy of Tasmanian thoroughbred racetrack conditions, safety, standards, maintenance and inspections.
