The Supervision Directions Land Surveyors, Tasmania have been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Surveyors Act 2002.
The purpose of these Directions is to classify and stipulate the minimum supervision requirements to be applied by a registered land surveyor when supervising a person (who is not a registered land surveyor) carrying out any part of a survey of land. They specify the obligations of the registered land surveyor with respect to supervision record keeping, and the role of the Surveyor-General in conducting audits of supervision.
Schedule 1 of the Supervision Directions Land Surveyors, Tasmania defines the requirements of two supervision levels - 'immediate' and 'general' - and the associated records of supervision required to be kept by the supervising surveyor.
Effective 1 June 2025, these Directions are to be observed by all land surveyors registered in Tasmania and failing to do so is a penalty offence in accordance with Section (15) of the Surveyors Act 2002.
