DATE: 19 MARCH 2020
CIRCULAR MEMORANDUM: 2/2020
DISTRIBUTION: GENERAL
SUBJECT: OFFICE CIRCULAR NO. 2/2020
Notwithstanding
the current public health situation, there has been no change to the operations
of the Land Titles Office (LTO). We are
continuing to accept lodgements through the normal channels and are undertaking
our normal operations.
However,
this situation continues to develop and evolve quickly, and it would therefore
be prudent to contemplate the possibility of a time when the lodgement and
registration processes of the LTO may require significant changes. That being
so, parties to land transactions, and their representatives, should give
thought to maximising their protection by way of best and most appropriate use
of priority notices. They should also
consider the option of further protection by way of caveat where
appropriate. Of course, the ability to
electronically lodge priority notices and caveats via TOLD will continue.
Any
changes to LTO operations will be communicated as promptly as possible to all
stakeholders through normal channels including further circulars, through
professional bodies, on our website and directly to TOLD subscribers.
