Office Circular No. 2-2012

DISTRIBUTION: GENERAL

SUBJECT: Lodgement of Notice of Sale

A notice of sale (NOS) is required to be lodged with every dealing that changes ownership details. Information collected from a NOS is forwarded by the Land Titles Office (LTO) to Land Tax, Valuation and the relevant Council to enable these agencies to update their records, therefore it is essential that the LTO gathers and provides accurate data in a timely manner.

The LTO recently conducted a review of NOS lodgement and processing and as a result of this will introduce internal processing changes to improve accuracy and gain efficiencies in this area. To ensure accuracy of data the LTO will be carefully examining NOS and requisitions will be raised where a NOS is incomplete or erroneous.

The LTO, while conducting the NOS review, was made aware by clients that there is some uncertainty around requirements in relation to completing and lodging Notices of Sale with the office and to assist clients guides to completing NOS forms are attached. The LTO can also provide information sessions if clients feel this would be of benefit.

If you have any queries, require further information or are interested in attending an information session please email: told.enquiries@dpipwe.tas.gov.au.
