Fee Units Act 1997The new fees are expressed as a "fee unit" under the Fee Units Act 1997.
The Treasurer has set the value of a fee unit for the 1999-2000 financial year at $1.01.
The Fee Units Act provides that the amount of new fees is to be calculated by multiplying the number of fee units applicable by the value of a fee unit and that the fee is rounded down to:
- The nearest 10 cents, if the amount of the fee is not more than $20
- The nearest 50 cents, if the amount of the fee, before rounding, is more than $20 but not more than $100, or
- The nearest dollar if the amount of the fee, before rounding is more than $100.
