DISTRIBUTION : GENERAL

SUBJECT : LAND TITLES (FEES) REGULATIONS 1999
REGISTRATION OF DEEDS AMENDMENT (FEES) REGULATIONS 1999
POWERS OF ATTORNEY (FEES) REGULATIONS 2001
CONVEYANCING AND LAW OF PROPERTY (FEES) REGULATIONS 1999
STRATA TITLES (FEES) REGULATIONS 1999

Fee Units Act 1997 (as amended)

Notwithstanding the value of a fee unit for the 2001-2002 financial year being set at $1.05, the Treasurer has given an exemption from the increase to the fees set out in the above regulations.

This exemption will result in a reduction of fees charged for 2001-2002 and will be calculated on the basis that a fee unit is $1.01. The fees take effect on and from 27 June 2001.

The Fee Units Act provides that the amount of new fees is to be calculated by multiplying the number of fee units applicable by the value of a fee unit and that the fee is rounded down to:
  • The nearest 10 cents, if the amount of the fee is not more than $20
  • The nearest 50 cents if the amount of the fee, before rounding, is more than $20 but not more than $100 or
  • The nearest dollar if the amount of the fee, before rounding, is more than $100.
Attached is a brief schedule of fees [link removed]. A full list of fees [link removed] is also available.

GST

All lodgement fees and charges set out in the above Regulations are exempted from the Goods and Services Tax.

All other goods and services, such as the sale of the Land Titles Office Practice Book, Forms on Disk, survey forms and copies of Central Plan Office Surveys, etc. attract GST.
