Office Circular No. 6/2018 - Digitisation of Records - Progress Update

DATE: 18 JUNE 2018

CIRCULAR MEMORANDUM: 6/2018

DISTRIBUTION:  GENERAL

SUBJECT: DIGITISATION OF RECORDS – PROGRESS UPDATE

Further to the update provided in Circular No. 5/2018 - Digitisation of Records – Progress Update, dated 14 May 2018, I am pleased to advise that the Deeds Memorials are on track to be available online at no charge, through The LIST, prior to August 2018 (subject to the final quality assurance check which is currently underway).

Upload of various index series to The LIST is also underway, including the indexes for Deposit Deeds, Wills and Letters of Administration, and Proclamations.

Please note that the computer in the Deeds Office has been re-located to Level 1 of the Lands Building at 134 Macquarie Street. The move is to ensure the safety of our clients whilst staff complete boxing of digitised records, in preparation for their transfer to the Tasmanian Archives and Heritage Office (TAHO) for permanent preservation.

Physical access to the Deeds Office can only be via an appointment and escorted by an LTO member of staff.

I'd like to emphasise that all documents are still available for search.  Although documents may not be on site, the Department is able to retrieve required documents quickly – please contact Titles.Enquiries@dpipwe.tas.gov.au with your requirements.

I again thank you for your patience during this period of transition, and am excited to be able to provide online access to these records in the very near future.

If you have any questions about the digitisation process, please contact the Project Manager Anita Yan on (03) 6165 4128 for further information.
