Location Data Products and Services

​​​​A wide range of location-based data products and services for government, industry and the general public are managed and delivered through the Location Services Branch. This includes:

• Management of the Land Information System Tasmania

• Delivery of Tasmanian spatial data including Open Data

• The maintenance and development of the State's foundation spatial datasets

• Management of the States Aerial Imagery library and capture programs via the Tasmanian Imagery Program

• Production of the TASMAP paper and digital map range and distribution via the TASMAP e-shop

• Provision of 24/7 GIS and mapping service to support Tasmania's emergency management organisations in routine operations and emergency incident environments 

• Operations of the Office of the Surveyor General
   
  
• Support to the Place Names Advisory Panel in undertaking place naming in Tasmania. The Place Names Office maintains the register of official place names, and provision of advice and information to the public via the Placenames Tasmania portal
   
• Delivery of the Spatial Discovery program which is a collection of educational resources relating to modern spatial technologies
   
• Co-ordinating implementation of the new GDA2020 Australian datum within Tasmania
