All Hazards Spatial Infrastructure Project FAQs

What is the All Hazards Spatial Infrastructure Project?

The All Hazards Spatial Infrastructure Project has been established by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas) as part of the Tasmanian Government's commitment to implement recommendations from the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements.

What will be delivered from the All Hazards Spatial Infrastructure Project?

The All Hazards Spatial Infrastructure Project will oversee the replacement of the ageing LIST infrastructure and deliver leading-edge spatial infrastructures and services to government, industry and the Tasmanian community.

What is the LIST?

LIST (Land Information System Tasmania) is a whole-of-government online infrastructure system that helps users find and use information about land and property in Tasmania.

The key components of the LIST are

  • LISTmap
  • Properties and Titles
  • LISTdata
  • the Common Operating Platform (COP), and
  • LIST Spatial Web Services.

LISTmap/COP and the LIST Spatial Web Services are critical components that support emergency services, especially during emergency incidents.

LISTmap is an online map viewer that allows you to view or create your own personalised maps of Tasmania, using a wide range of authoritative land‐based information.

What is the COP?

COP is the acronym for the Common Operating Platform. It is a secure, web-based application that has a central mapping component (LISTmap) and is used by Emergency Service Organisations and incident managers for incident Control.

It is used for communication, planning and collaboration to enable the sharing of information with the goal of making better, more informed, operational, and strategic decisions.

What are spatial web services?

A web service is a software system which supports communication between one computer and another computer over a network.

The LIST Spatial Web Services enable users to access and use authoritative spatial datasets from the NRE Tas in a variety of ways, through standard internet protocols.
