Operations Area

​​​​The Operations Area is responsible for the tasks listed below for the Thoroughbred, Harness and Greyhound Racing Industries.

Operations Area staff are responsible for managing the production and distribution of race fields and form guides for over 240 meetings each year, as well as processing and distributing the results of those and over 80 trial meetings.  Staff in the area are also responsible for processing licensing and registration applications.

The following is a list of services provided by the Operations Area separated by race code.

Thoroughbred Racing

  • Licensing of all participants
  • Ownership change applications
  • Registration of racing colours
  • Registration of syndicates

Harness Racing

  • Handicapping of harness horses
  • Receive and process all race and trial nominations
  • Conduct eligibility checks
  • All field selection and barrier draws
  • Produce and distribute race fields and form guides
  • Receive and distribute scratching information
  • Process all race and trial results, stable returns, gear notifications, training notifications, nomination forms, clearances and claiming authorities.
  • Process all applications relating to licensing and registration of people and animals

Greyhound Racing

  • Grading of greyhounds
  • Receive and process all race qualifying trial nominations
  • Conduct eligibility checks
  • All field selection and box draws
  • Produce and distribute race fields
  • Receive and distribute scratching information
  • Process all race and trial results, training notification of named greyhounds, nomination forms and any other race related paperwork
  • Process all applications relating to licensing and registration of people and animals
