Foal Notifications

All Owner/Breeders in Tasmania can submit Foal Notifications digitally online through Harnessweb. The digital process is available for participants NOW.

What does this mean:

  • less paperwork

  • enhanced transparency

  • a quicker process for Owners/Breeders

A print version application form is also available:

Decide which state to notify a foal with

Before registering you must decide which state to notify your foal with:

  • It is usually best to notify your foal with the state where the foal is born. This will mean that microchipping arrangements will be made sooner.

  • You can also register your foal in another state, at the same time, for futurity purposes.

  • If your foal is born in Tasmania notification is subsidised by Tasracing if lodged with ORI within 3 months of foaling - this means no charge for the Owner/Breeder.

Digital process overview

  1. Owner/Breeder or agent initiates the process by entering the Foal Notification details into the Harnessweb portal.

  2. The state governing body approves the Foal Notification and finalised the transaction.

  3. The state governing body Microchippers will be in touch to schedule a time to visit to microchip the foal and take a hair sample for DNA testing.

More details about the digital process are available in the video tutorial created by RISE Racing:
