Abalone Closures

Fishery Closures

Greenlip abalone

Sub-block catch caps are used to refine the spatial management of the commercial abalone fishery.

Fishing effort needs to be distributed across the fishery to reduce the possibility of localised overfishing.

At times, sub-blocks of the commercial abalone fishery are closed to control the total amount of abalone harvested in an area in the interest of resource sustainability.

Go to Public Notices page to view all current abalone fishery notices.
