Recreational Fishing Seasons

​​​​Fisheries may be closed at spawning times to protect breeding stock, to limit the catch for a fishery or for public health reasons. If not listed, no recreational season applies.

Eastern Region (including ECSRZ)
- Closes 30 April 2023.
Western Region (Females)
- Closes 30 April 2023.
Western Region (Males)
- Closes 31 August 2023.

Squid / Calamari Spawning Closures
East Coast
Upper south east coast waters including Great Oyster Bay and Mercury Passage from 15 October to 14 November inclusive each year.​
 
North Coast
2021: From Cape Grim east to Cape Naturaliste will be closed from 1 - 31 October 2021 inclusive​.
Striped TrumpeterClosed from 1 September to 31 October inclusive each year.
Scallops 2022: Open from 9 April to 31 July 2022.
The D'Entrecasteaux Channel is closed.
Banded Morwong
Closed from 1 March to 30 April inclusive each year.
AbaloneOpen all year round.
