The South Esk River Catchment Water Management Plan was adopted on 16 June 2013 and took effect on 3 December 2014.
The purpose of the Plan is to provide a framework for managing the water resources of the South Esk River Catchment in accordance with the objectives of the
Water Management Act 1999.

New cease to take flow thresholds for Surety 5, 6 and 7 allocations came into effect under exemption orders published in 2017 and 2018 and extended under exemption order published on 25 January 2023. This replaces the cease to take thresholds set out in the South Esk River Catchment Water Management Plan.
