Secretary's reviews of water management plans
Water Management Plans (WMPs) generally specify a 10-year review timeframe.
A review by the Secretary of NRE Tas is the first step in a statutory plan review process to consider if the Plan is still meeting the Water Management Act’s (and Plan’s) objectives and to determine if it is necessary and/or when it is desirable to amend a Plan.
The Secretary’s reviews and findings will be made publicly available via reports once completed. The information below provides details of Secretary’s reviews that have been completed as well as those that are currently underway. Information on the Secretary’s Review processes are documented in the completed reports and are accessible via the links below.

Water Management Plans currently being reviewed and amended
If it is determined that a statutory water management plan requires amendment, the next step is to commence a statutory process to draft plan amendments and undertake statutory consultation before a plan (or amended plan) is adopted.
This process is a statutory process meaning that the mandated planning processes and requirements of Part 4 of the Water Management Act 1999 must be followed to prepare a new plan or to make changes to an existing plan. Refer to Water Management Planning Process and Policy for further information.
