Water Management Statements document the current water management arrangements for a catchment.
These documents are non-statutory and include the following information:
A description of the water resource (volume of water, seasonal flow pattern)
A summary of important freshwater ecosystems within the catchment
A description of the environmental water requirements
The allocation limits
A description of the rules that apply for taking water from the water resource
The purpose of the Statements is to assist the community and water users understand how water is managed in a specific catchment, at a point in time. They may also help to identify any issues that need resolving. Any changes to water management are done through policy development or the statutory water planning process.
The Water Management Statements will be updated (as needed) to reflect ongoing changes to water policies or water management decisions.
