Environmental Flows for the Macquarie River

This environmental flow assessment (completed in 2009) encompasses rivers in the Macquarie River catchment above the junction of the Lake River and was undertaken using the TEFF. Because of the long history of water management for domestic and irrigation demands in this catchment, largely through releases from Lake Leake and Tooms Lake in the upper catchment, this assessment focuses on the high flow needs of riverine ecosystems (i.e. low flow aspects of the flow regime are not considered in this assessment).

Several other studies supported this environmental flows assessment and these focused on; fish and freshwater mussel populations, unique broadwater ecosystems, freshwater ecosystem values, river health, water quality and hydrology.
